Music is an integral part of the Christian life. It is a subject spoken of often in the Scriptures. It is an essential element in what makes Christianity different than all other religions of the world. We will be discussing in more detail later all the various aspects of music as it relates to the Church and worship. But what we need to hear above all else today in the present state of the Church is this – there is a right and wrong to music. Music is a moral subject. There is bad music, questionable music, and there is good and right music. We as followers of Christ must acknowledge this truth, and then go about discerning the difference.
However that is not the belief of most Christians today. The greatest deception believed and practiced in the church of America is music does not have a moral basis. In other words, music is just a medium for the message. If the message is good, scriptural, righteous, accurate, uplifting, etc. then the music that accompanies the message is strictly a personal preference. In other words, we can use any medium of music with any melody, harmony and rythym we choose, and no one can judge what we do, because music is simply a personal preference. And if a person makes a judgment on a particular style of music, they are being judgmental, because there is no right and wrong when it comes to music, only personal preference. This deception which is believed and practiced in the Church today is a lie from Satan and he is using it to bring about many other deceptions.
Do you believe there is a right and wrong to music? Or are you one of those Christians that has come to believe that music is a person’s personal preference and we cannot judge another man’s preference. Have you been led to believe that the Scripture does not speak clearly about what music is right and wrong? Do you believe that the worship of God equals music? If you believe these wrong concepts, then you have fallen pray to the greatest deception being believed and practiced in the church of America.
Our goal here is to proclaim the truth of Scripture in this area of music. We want to expose and tear down these lies so many people have believed. We want to encourage other Christians who know there is a right and wrong to music and who want to be in the right in this area of life. We want to provide resources and encouragement.
I am grateful for all those who have taken a right stand in this area of music. For those of us who are old enough, we have seen the changes that have come about in the last 50 years. We have also seen the consequences that have come from many being deceived. Let’s renew ourselves with right music and renew the fight against this deception that has come upon so many around us.
